September 25, 2025
The calendar may say it's fall, but summer isn't quite ready to leave! With temperatures still in the 70s and 80s and not a bit of frost in sight, we're soaking up this unseasonably warm weather.
This is the second year in a row we've been blessed with a warm September, and we're definitely not complaining. It's a huge help, saving us time and effort protecting our crops from an early frost.
Summer Crops Are Still Going Strong
Thanks to the warm weather, we're still harvesting summer favorites like sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and watermelon.
We get asked all the time, "How much longer will you have these?" The truth is, it's up to Mother Nature. The season will end when production slows down, Jack Frost finally shows up, or we need to start our cleanup and our crew heads home.
We know the season is wrapping up when we start to see the pace of our harvest slow down. Crops we used to pick every other day are now being harvested every 4 to 5 days as the days get shorter. We'll keep going as long as we can, but at some point we do have to call it quits, and that’s always a sad day.
If you've been waiting to can or freeze your favorite produce, now is the time to do it. Don't wait too long, or you might miss your chance! Check out our bulk produce offerings to see what's still available for bulk preorder.
Fall Harvest Is Underway

While we're still working on summer crops, the fall harvest is in full swing!
- Squash: We've harvested most of our squash and moved it to our Waverly farm for washing and packing. Our harvest this year was smaller than usual due to a very wet spring. That impacted our yields, but not the quality, which is excellent.
-
Pumpkins: Our pumpkin inventory is growing as we race to get them out of the fields before a frost hits. Despite facing challenges with wet weather during planting, the pumpkins we do have are beautiful. You'll see our farm lot has turned into a staging area, overflowing with pumpkins, gourds, and squash.
Apples, Apples, Apples!

The apple harvest is well underway, too. We've finished picking First Kiss and will be wrapping up the SweeTango harvest soon.
We've also started picking Honeycrisp and Kindercrisp, with a few more varieties like Snow Sweet and Haralson still to come. We hope you're enjoying the flavors of the Minnesota apple season as much as we are!
Busier Than Ever
The next few weeks will be incredibly busy on the farm. Not only does the harvest continue, but we have a huge amount of cleanup to do before winter:
- pulling plants from our high tunnels
- removing plastic mulch and irrigation lines
- getting the fields ready for the colder months
- harvesting our field corn and soybeans
The to-do list seems endless, but our amazing team always gets it done!
