We made it! Thanks to a little luck and a lot of hard work, we squeaked through the Minnesota State Fair with just enough sweet corn to cover every single order. Hitting that tight 12-day ripening window is always a gamble, but that’s farming for you. Now, we’re ready to officially look ahead to the next big event: fall harvest.
Stocking Up
While we’re still balancing late summer produce, our crew spent Labor Day getting the fields staged for autumn. We’re stocking up on pallets and bins, and moving equipment around. As crops are harvested, we need the space for wagons and trucks to head straight back to the farm for sorting, or straight out to clients without delay. Before you know it, our Waverly parking lot will be a sea of colorful pumpkins, squash, and autumn decor.
While you can find a great selection of fall mums at the Farm Stands, hang tight for the straw bales and pumpkins. Soon, our Farm Stands will soon be bursting with vibrant fall colors in all shapes and sizes to help you style your front stoop. Prefer to skip the heavy lifting this year? Let us handle it! New Apple Products Dropping Every Day
Also, apple season is officially underway! While our First Kiss harvest was a bit light this year, we’re now heavily into picking SweeTango and Honeycrisp.
If you’ve ever wondered why local Minnesota Honeycrisps taste noticeably richer and crunchier than the ones shipped from Washington State, it comes down to two key factors:
- Terrain & Climate: Minnesota’s dramatic temperature swings. Warm late-summer days followed by crisp, cool autumn nights, trigger the tree to produce more sugars, creating that iconic balance of sweet and tangy flavors.
- Tree-Ripened Freshness: Washington apples are picked early, stored in cold rooms often up to one full year, and then are shipped thousands of miles. Our local apples ripen fully on the branch and go straight from our orchard to your bag within days.

While autumn is fast approaching, summer produce is still rolling in. We are actively harvesting sweet corn, juicy tomatoes, green beans, and cantaloupe. If you’re planning to preserve produce for the winter, time is running out! Get your canning and freezing orders in soon before the season winds down!
