We have some exciting news: we are officially beginning to harvest our strawberries for the season. The first berries of the summer are here! 🍓

Before we get ahead of ourselves, here's a quick, honest update from the fields. The crop isn't booming this year, but we do expect a steady, beautiful supply. Farming always comes with its own rhythm, so some days we’ll have a bounty at the farm stands, and other days will be a bit quieter.
If a grocery store clamshell has been your only exposure to strawberries, you are in for a treat. Local, freshly picked berries are a completely different fruit than supermarket varieties. Why?
- Flavor over travel time: Supermarket berries are bred to have thick skins and a long shelf-life. They need to survive a 2,000-mile truck ride! They are often picked green and turn red on the road, meaning their sugars never fully develop.
- The local difference: Our berries are picked at the absolute peak of ripeness. They are incredibly tender, juicy, and sweet all the way through because they didn't have to travel further than from our fields to your hands. Because they are so delicate, we recommend eating them within a day or two, if they even last that long!
Also, with local berries, looks aren't everything. Because our berries grow naturally in the elements without being chemically engineered for perfect uniformity, you might notice an occasional blemish, weird shape, or sun-kissed spot. Don't let that fool you! These little quirks don't hurt the flavor at all. In fact, those berries are usually the sweetest ones in the batch.
An Update on "Pick Your Own" & Pre-orders
To keep our fields healthy for the long haul, we will not be offering Pick Your Own (PYO) strawberries this year. Our plants are still in a rebounding phase, and letting crowds into the patch can stress them out while they are trying to recover. We want to ensure they stay strong for years to come!
Additionally, because the harvest is a steady trickle rather than a massive flood, we aren't able to take pre-orders for full flats just yet. We want to make sure we can actually fill an order before we take your money.
However, we hope to offer pre-orders for strawberries by the flat later in the season if the plants surprise us. Want to be the first to know if they do? Put your name on the waiting list to receive an email notification.
