February 25, 2025
We often joke that that our best locations are the parking lots where the biggest snow piles are located each winter. And why do we say that? Well, in our eyes those areas have either been underutilized, or are just extra space sitting vacant for a variety of reasons.
While we haven’t had a lot of snow the past few years, it turns out we aren’t the only ones looking for those piles or open parking lots. Many developers are too.
The Search for Locations
As many of you know, finding and retaining locations for our seasonal business can be quite challenging. We rely on landlords and management companies, often based out of state, who have their own plans on how they see their property evolving long-term. We can’t blame them, as everyone must do what’s best for their own business - including ourselves.
In addition, we navigate local regulations in each municipality, because no two cities are the same. This adds another layer of complexity when it comes to operating our seasonal locations.
There’s always challenges, but then again, with challenges come opportunities. We’re always on the lookout for the next great site, so who knows where we might end up next?
Changes in St. Louis Park
At this time, we must announce that we will not be returning to our St. Louis Park location for the 2025 season. There is development proposed at 5401 Gamble Drive, which at this time, disallows the renewal of our lease for the same location. We have explored all available options known to us, but unfortunately, they do not align with the needs of our business model.
We want to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the St. Louis Park community for your unwavering support and patronage over the years. While we are actively searching for a new location in the area, it does not look like we will have a presence for the 2025 season. We do hope to return to the neighborhood soon!
