Strawberries

Our strawberries are ruby red all the way through, incredibly juicy, and naturally sweet. When in season, they are shipped to our farm stands the day they are picked, allowing for the freshest possible taste and aroma. We grow them for flavor, not for shipping durability.

Sold at farm stands by the quart. Always shop for berries with your nose! If you can’t smell the fragrance, they won’t taste sweet. Look for berries that are fully red from tip to stem with fresh green caps and a sweet aroma. Unlike some fruits, strawberries stop ripening the moment they are picked, so what you see is the sweetness you get. Typically in season from late June through October.

Are you looking for a strawberries by the flat? Later this summer, you will be able to preorder them by the flat. Bulk produce preorders are typically available mid-July through September.

Rinse off the berries and remove the green tops before eating. Avoid washing them until right before you plan to eat them, however, because moisture speeds up spoilage.

Locally-grown strawberries smell and taste best at room temperature.

Do not wash strawberries until you’re ready to eat them. Fresh picked berries will keep for 3-4 days in the refrigerator depending on their ripeness. Store in a shallow Tupperware container.

To freeze, wash berries and remove green tops. Let berries dry on a clean towel. Place whole berries on a cookie sheet and freeze. Once berries are frozen, pop them into a Ziplock bag for easy storage and freeze.
