This recipe for homemade pickles is sure to please all ages, as it makes great use of cucumbers and onions straight from your garden!

Grandma Punky is Farmer Jerry’s mom and when we were growing up, she used to make us a batch each week! It was always a special treat.


  • 6-7 cups sliced cucumbers
  • 1 cup onion
    thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp celery seed
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup tarragon vinegar


  1. Mix celery seed, sugar, and vinegar well to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Add sliced cucumbers and onion.
  3. Refrigerate at least 24 hrs.
