CSA FAQ
Do you have other questions? Just ask!
Here are some of the most common questions about our CSA program:
General
No, our 2023 season is sold out. Sales for shares in our 2024 season will go on sale to new members in November 2023.
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is an opportunity to support a local farm and incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet.
A CSA share ensures you are getting fresh vegetables each week and removes the obstacles of choosing what to buy. A CSA share adds variety to your diet and makes cooking fun again! Our CSA program is a healthy way to incorporate new vegetables into your weekly meals.
While we are not 100% organic, we try to be as natural and sustainable as possible. Whenever possible, we incorporate as many earth-friendly techniques as possible to give back to the land each season.
Payment plans, which divide the full cost of the share into 4 equal monthly payments, are no longer available for the 2023 season.
CSA Pickup and Delivery
All CSA shares are delivered on Tuesdays and must be picked up on the same day during the designated time slot.
No. This year, July 4 falls on a Tuesday, so the delivery day that week will be on Wednesday, July 5.
We deliver to multiple sites around the metro. You can view all of our drop sites here.
While we have typically partnered with many corporations throughout the metro, Covid19 has changed the landscape of workplace deliveries. If you are interested in having your workplace or community be a drop site please contact us to discuss further.
At this time, we do not offer any home delivery services.
You may have a friend or family member pick up your share for you or we can deliver your share to a different location. If neither of these options work for you, you can always have your share donated to the food shelf. Click here to see our video instructions for how to do this.
Please sign into your portal to adjust your pickup location or contact us a minimum of 48 hours in advance.
Unfortunately, we are unable to hold or credit shares if you miss a pickup. All shares are delivered on Tuesdays and are expected to be picked up on Tuesdays. We are unable to reissue shares if you miss your pickup window.
About the CSA share
- We grow over 70 crops on our farm. You will never see an entire box full of the same item. While we grow many familiar vegetables, we also try to incorporate different varieties, colors, and an occasional new item to expand your palate.
- FAMILY SHARES will receive 7-10 items each week, while the MINI SHARES will receive 5-7 items each week. You can view a video of photos of a full season’s worth of shares on our CSA web page.
Yes, you can split a share with anyone of your choosing. It is entirely your responsibility to split the share. Please realize that the contents in the box may not be equal for both parties.
At this time we are not able to customize shares.
We wish all produce could be grown exactly the same, but unfortunately produce sizes vary. We try to pack all boxes as evenly and equally as possible.
Occasionally something gets missed. Please know that missing items are an accident. Just contact us, and we would be more than happy to get your item replaced.
Just let us know and we will be more than happy to take care of it for you. We will never send out subpar produce on purpose, but we are happy to replace something that is rotten on the inside.
At this time, we are not able to accept any CSA boxes due to a health and packaging regulation called FSMA. We encourage you to find a secondary use for the box as they are nice boxes! Otherwise, we ask that you break them down and recycle them at home.
Yes! We send a “Sneak Peek” email every Saturday to give you an idea of what items will be in the share the coming week. Then each delivery day, we send a reminder along with details about each item, recipes, and news from the farm.
A Family Share is $595, and a Mini Share is $475.
CSA Schedule
The first delivery of the 2023 CSA season will be on Tuesday, June 20. All communication will be done via email, and you will receive a notification once we have determined the best start date. Please remember that harvest dates change every year and are almost always out of our control. The season lasts 17 weeks, ending in mid-October.
At Untiedt’s we grow for a variety of customers and our diversified business model gives the flexibility needed to guarantee a full season of produce. In our 11 CSA seasons, we have never missed a week.
Yes because we typically sell out of shares. We recommend signing up early so you don’t miss out. By signing up early, you help us understand how much of each crop we need to plant to fulfill out CSA commitments.
Our program is sold out for the 2023 season. Registration for the 2024 season will be open to new members in November 2023.
We send out a “Sneak Peek” email on Saturday mornings before the Tuesday deliveries. Please remember that some growing conditions are out of our control and the list on Saturday may slightly differ to the actual contents on Tuesdays.
Membership logistics
Typically, we host a members-only tour of our farm in July. This year, farm tours will be held on the weekends of July 8-9 and July 15-16.
At these tours, you are able to see one of our production areas to understand how we use high tunnel farming. We’ll also invite you to enjoy a farm fresh meal. We do our absolute best to accommodate as many members as possible on farm tour weekends, but we do have to set limits based on the capacity of our wagons and the availability of our farm staff.
We send emails to all CSA members (including secondary email address on every share) every Saturday and Tuesday morning, to make sure that you get the most out of your CSA.
Sometimes, those emails do not go through. Our system keeps track of who we send emails to, and whether they are opened or returned. We can’t tell if emails are filtered out of your inbox, however.
We have seen that sometimes people accidentally block email addresses. If you use GMail or a Google email service, click here to check to see if this has happened to you, and for unblocking us if so. Look for [email protected] and [email protected] and unblock them if you see them listed.
If those email addresses do not appear as blocked, then it’s likely that the emails are being filtered out somehow before they arrive at your inbox. Many security apps or programs on your phone or computer allow you to block email senders, as do many 3rd party apps. If you use any of these types of apps or programs, our emails could be filtered out there, and you would need to adjust those settings.
